Barnsley Company Win Contract With The UK’s National Library

One of the world’s greatest research libraries has awarded a Barnsley based software company the contract to provide their new contracts management database to improve visibility, collaboration and contract reporting in their Corporate Procurement Department.

Home to over 150 million collection items from around the world, the British Library; with sites in London and Yorkshire, tendered the need for a fully interactive system, that will assist with the day to day management of contracts and maximise value to the organisation. The contract worth over £18K was awarded to software company, Target Information Systems.

The UK developed contract management system, Accord is providing support for the day to day creation and manipulation of data through reporting facilities for their Procurement Advisors and Contract Managers. The system is resolving issues around the required internal reporting and enabling an effective and efficient supplier and contract management process.

Vicky Platt, Procurement Advisor at The British Library says: “We already had easy recording and reporting tools but we wanted to upgrade our systems. Both the Procurement Unit and designated British Library Contract Managers were seeking a system that was fully interactive to help with the day to day management of contracts, as well as something that was cost effective, user friendly and easily allowed the sharing of contract information across the organisation.”

She continued: “The contract was awarded to Target because their Accord system already met most of the requirements we were looking for in a new contract management solution. Not only great value for money, the opportunity to develop the system alongside Target’s expertise was the deciding factor; as we wanted a system that was flexible and adaptable to meet our needs if processes were to change.”

Our software is already used globally by other organisations to help various departments be more efficient and effective but to have a contract with the British Library is an incredible achievement for our team here.”

The system will provide their Corporate Procurement Unit with real time data and reporting to flag when a contract is due for renewal together with all the contract details to ensure everything complies with standards to save time, effort and money.
