Most of us have considered making a Will, but two in three people die without leaving one. If you die without a valid Will, your estate will be distributed according to the Laws of Intestacy rather than your wishes. This can cause considerable unnecessary distress, financial worry and lengthy legal battles for loved ones left behind, at an already difficult time.

The Worship Cloud

The UK’s leading online digital creative resource website, www.TheWorshipCloud.com has appointed Barnsley based software development company, Target Information Systems to deliver its new, 2010 eCommerce and Digital Asset Management Software.

www.TheWorshipCloud.com and its sister eCommerce site, teachersdozen.co.uk have appointed Target Information Systems (Target) to replace its five year old platform with a smart, modern, open source Java application.

www.TheWorshipCloud.com Managing Director, Wayne Grewcock, said “We’ve had a very exciting four years of growth with www.TheWorshipCloud.com, our concept site, a site established five years ago to give a platform for organisations to be able to have royalty free access to a host of movie, image, PowerPoint and written resources”

He continued, “I was leading the way that churches in the UK were delivering new media presentations in church. Often much of the content was being searched for and taken from Google. The problem here, if you use someone else’s intellectual property in this way you are open to being sued. Our plan was to create a very low cost resource site where all content is royalty free to avoid these problems”

There have been numerous cases in courts in recent years where content owners have seen their work suddenly appear in advertising or on other websites without any consultation. Intellectual property theft has been an emerging issue in the last ten years with more and more people relying on the internet, and Google, for resource to deliver anything from PowerPoint presentations to national advertising campaigns.

"www.TheWorshipCloud.com has been live with Target Information Systems since October 2010. It is a large website with a great deal of information and pages and we have invested heavily in creating a globally used resource. I can honestly, and without reservation, tell you that the support services, accessibility to the developers and the support we receive from the team is excellent. When support issues arise they are dealt with swiftly, we are constantly updated as to what is happening, we are clear on next steps and the matter are resolved very, very quickly. We worked with an agency previously where communication was difficult, slow and confusing. Target have, and this is important, constantly provided a very high level of support for which we pay a competitive market rate."

Wayne GrewcockManaging Director

“The easy access to images, video and written work that the Internet gives us is often too tempting for some people to resists” says Phil Atkinson, Managing Director of Target, the company behind the new www.TheWorshipCloud.com platform.

He continued “I’m not suggesting that people are necessarily to lazy, it’s often just difficult to find what you need to deliver that important presentation or compliment your website or printed work with good images. www.TheWorshipCloud.com is an excellent resource for creative’s where the content is royalty free and where some of the subscription fee being shared each quarter with the contributors”

JPAC NHS

The Joint United Kingdom Blood Transfusion and Tissue Transplantation Services Professional Advisory Committee (JPAC) was created in 1987 and saw the beginning of closer collaboration between Blood centres across the whole of the UK.

The purpose of this website when first launched in 2002 was to be a vehicle of publishing the various JPAC publications. This initial core function was soon extended to other aspects of the UK transfusion and Transplantation activities.

Re-launched in April 2104 using technology, consultancy, support and content management with Target Information Systems Limited, the site is now servicing around 10,000 users per month who are requesting over half a million pages per year.

The site is used by clinicians, scientists and other healthcare professionals across the UK and abroad both from Blood Services and hospitals.

Caroline Smith, Joint UKBTS Professional Advisory Committee (JPAC) Manager said: The main purpose of JPAC and its website is to provide professional advice and guidelines for the four UK Blood Transfusion Services, including the Guidelines for the Blood Transfusion Services in the United Kingdom (Red Book), the Handbook of Transfusion Medicine, the Donor Selection Guidelines (Blood, Tissues and Cells) and the Geographical Disease Risk Index for donor selection. All these guidelines take account of the relevant European Union Directives and resulting UK regulations. Through the website this information is available nationally and internationally to practitioners and the public.

Each of the 4 UK Blood Services have their own individual needs and links to the site as they have different IT systems. That had to be built into the site and the system Target have built for us is simplifying this process and allowing all the blood services access to update the site.”

She continued, “Target have delivered something new and fresh and are continually developing and improving the system to match our changing needs. The system is absolute value for money and will never out date as the team at Target are building it to be entirely capable so it is completely tailored to work within our business.

To be an Advisory Committee to the United Kingdom Blood Transfusion Services, normally by reporting to the Medical Directors of the individual Services who are themselves individually accountable to the Chief Executives of the Services. Decisions on policy and implementation would be vested in the individual Chief Executives and their Service boards and, where appropriate, their respective Health Departments.

Tom Devine, Head of Procurement, Bedford Hospital NHS Trust says: “Bedford Hospital is a small to medium size NHS Trust based in the County town of Bedfordshire.

The Trust provides the full range of acute services to its local population. The Trust required to address the Information Governance Agenda (IG Toolkit) that applies across the NHS and in addition was looking at a possible merger with a neighbouring Trust.

The issue with regard to Information Governance was that of knowing which Contracts/Agreements were being stored where, for how long, were renewed in a timely manner and appropriately disposed of at the right time (i.e. DOH guidelines for record retention).

The issue with regard to the Trust merger (which incidentally did not go ahead) was the due diligence requirement so the Trusts could clearly understand what contracts existed and would be novated should the merger be agreed.

"Accord does exactly what it says on the tin; providing a user friendly contracts database at a reasonable cost. The Target team have an admirable ‘can do’ ethic."

The housing association wanted to move away from storing contract information in excel spreadsheets, while also wanting to find a tool that could extract particular information to create reports. Target have worked with Monmouthshire Housing Association to build and quickly deploy a fully functioning contract management system.

Target’s Accord contract information management and reporting system is now allowing the organisation to securely store and gain control over all their important contract and supplier data, as well as have clear visibility over the department activities and have the ability to extract any data set to create the reports they need.

Steve Higginson, Deputy Chief Executive said, “We were previously working in spreadsheets, and finding it difficult to update and share information across the teams; which made us worry about the actual integrity of our data.

Target’s Accord contract information management and reporting system is allowing the organisation to capture and store all the information around their projects and buyer savings. The service now has instant visibility over data and has the ability to create reports around a finance work plan, and forecast; cash savings and cost reductions.

Coca-Cola European Partners (Wakefield)

Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) has its largest bottling plant in Europe in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The 16 football pitch sized plant produces over 100M cans of pop every year and employs over 500 people.

CCEP built a 10 line production facility with an attached regional service centre in Wakefield in 1989. The site is modern, smart and a state of the art production facility for Coca-Cola, Lilt, Schweppes and other key Coca-Cola brands.

Across the site there is an array of facilities management equipment that require maintenance, inspection or calibration services. These services are provided to the site under a contract that is in place with a supplier to ensure that the entire site is compliant.

In 2010 CCEP approached Target with a new project towards delivering complete compliance at Wakefield Operations with additional and innovative business management systems

With literally thousands of pieces of equipment requiring some element of inspection, maintenance and calibration; the information management task was enormous. Target, being experts and delivering Control, Compliance and Savings through data automation, installed their Accord; Register of Contracts, Contract Manager & Equipment Compliance Database. Not only did Target deploy Accord, they delivered and integrated Verature, their visitor management and contractor control software into their highly developed business management system.

The business management system which includes functionality from Accord and Verature enabled information to sit centrally in a secure location and for reporting and automated escalations to be easily generated.

Mark White, Engineering Manager, Coca-Cola European Partners, Wakefield Operations said “Target create very good solutions for the complex storage of data. They listen carefully to what we want and turn our ideas into systems that really work.

"We have been working with Target since 2010 and they provide a business information management system to our site. I can confirm that their response times to support requests for upgrade or issues is better than excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending Target to you; they are more like work colleagues than contractors."

Mark WhiteEngineering Manager

“The Verature System has been an absolute breath of fresh air for our organisation, in multiple ways. It makes the management of Contractors (often our highest risk) far easier to manage, simpler for traceability purposes and gives us as a management team far more time on our hands. The automated escalation process built into the system is also fantastic, giving clearer visibility for Senior Management in our organisation of potential risk areas, well before they become a major issue. It’s an easy to use system, yet highly intelligent behind the scenes.”

He continues, “We have been working with Target since 2010 and they provide a business information management system to our site. All public sector tenders in Ireland are published by the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). The worldwide recognised University found the union’s system difficult to use, forcing the use of working out of Excel spreadsheet, soon finding a need for an implementation of a Procurement Contracts Database system to improve data capture in their Procurement and Contracts Office and that would work alongside OJEU Tenders.

Through a public procurement tendering process the contract was won by Target in September 2015 and the new system was deployed in November 2015. Target provided their Accord – Contract Management System including additional bespoke work to also deliver a fully OJEU compliant Tender Tracker.

Target’s contract management system and OJEU Tender Tracker provides their Procurement and Contracts Office with real time data and reporting to flag when a contract is due for renewal together with all the contract details to ensure everything complies with standards to save time, effort and money.

The contract worth over £18K was awarded to Target in September 2015 and deployed in January 2016. Target implemented their Accord Contract Management system to provide a solution to support the day to day creation and manipulation of data through reporting facilities.

Targets contract management system is providing the Corporate Procurement Department a cost effective, user friendly system that allows them to share information across the organisations easily, as well as resolve issues around the required internal reporting and enabling an effective and efficient supplier and contract management process.

Dorset Council

Dorset Council

Dorset Council is the county council of Dorset in England; Dorset County Council provided the upper tier of local government below which are the district councils, and town and parish councils. They became Dorset Council after Local Government Reorganisation took place to merge the councils together to work with the community to make Dorset a better place to live, work and learn; the authority provide services to schools, social care for the elderly and vulnerable, road maintenance, libraries and trading standards.

Before March 2014, The Procurement team at Dorset County Council were previously using a contract register which created challenges because of the lack of central information and standardized data capture and documentation. Following a presentation and overview of the Accord contract management system, the team at Dorset County Council could see the benefits of adopting the system and opportunities it presented to make it fit for purpose for the authority.

Target were able to deliver a system to provide information and data capture that the Council required with the opportunity to build and adapt to Dorset’s requirements. Accord has resolved issues across the expenditure and income contracts for the authority and provided the team with opportunities to capture and streamline processes and procedures for the authority.

Dorset County Council were using the system for contract management across the whole authority ultimately improving the way information is collected and shared. Dorset now have a single repository of contract documentation which has enabled them to review their contract management processes and ensure they are consistent in their approach.

Recently Local Government Reorganisation has taken place in the County of Dorset, which resulted from 1 April 2019 in a new Dorset Council replacing the existing district and borough councils (East Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck, West Dorset, Weymouth & Portland) and Dorset County Council.

To facilitate smooth transfer the councils had to ensure that they had in a place a central record of their live contracts. Dorset County Council already had in place Accord as a contracts database and following what had been a compliance agenda to monitor spend against contracts, had already done considerable work to populate the database.

"The ability and freedom to develop Accord to address challenges of bringing all contracts into one council has been vital in the work needed under the Shaping Dorset Council programme. It enabled the councils to not only to have a central record of all contracts but also to provide one version of the truth as all decisions in relation to the contracts were held in the one place"

Dawn AdamsInterim Head of Procurement

As part of the Shaping Dorset change programme for the new Dorset Council, Dorset Procurement, worked with Target to develop the Accord system to support the necessary work needed to review all contracts and the contract management system was opened to also record all District and Borough contracts as well.

Dawn Adams, Interim Head of Procurement said, “The ability and freedom to develop Accord to address challenges of bringing all contracts into one council has been vital in the work needed under the Shaping Dorset Council programme. It enabled the councils to not only to have a central record of all contracts but also to provide one version of the truth as all decisions in relation to the contracts were held in the one place. The ability to run reports against Christchurch Impact provided the ability to create contract transfer lists that also recorded discussions and decisions made by both Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council.”

She continued: “I would highly recommend the system and Target’s development capabilities to other organisations and associates with the same issues. For the procurement team of Dorset Council, we will be taking forward further development of Accord to meet the aspirations and needs of the new Council. We will continue to work innovatively with Target’s expertise to deliver this next chapter as Dorset Council.”

Many Trusts in the UK resort to using Excel spreadsheets to manage the day to day activities surrounding the contracts that they have in place with suppliers who deliver goods and services to them under a contractual agreement.

This is often because the legacy finance system doesn’t support this data management function.

Contracts have a great deal of data such as:

  • Contract Title
  • Contract Requirements
  • Contract Costs
  • An internal buyer manager
    • Name, contact details
  • An internal contact who is the receiver of the goods or services
    • Name, department, contact details, contracts

    • Contract details, internal buyer, internal contact, payment schedule, documents
  • Reporting
    • Expiry dates, Review Dates, Payment Schedule

Tammie PurdueHead of Purchasing and Supplies

This data was being managed by a number of buyers across a number of sites in a number of various spreadsheet formats.

As part of the ACCORD installation the Data Team at Target manually migrated several thousand records manually over a three day period. The services used were:

  • Manual Data Aggregation
  • Manual Data Entry
  • Manual Inspection & Data Validation

Gibbins Cost Lawyers

Leading UK Law Cost Draftsmen firm, Gibbins & Co. has recently taken delivery of a business critical Intranet application from Target Information Systems to further improve their excellent 35-year industry reputation for customer service and satisfaction.

Information management plays a critical role in modern businesses. Often, due to focus, cost or a need to react to customer needs to generate revenue; some companies aren’t managing their data as effectively as they could.

“Our firm is 35 years old with 27 staff and hundreds and hundreds of clients sending us hundreds of cases each week for us to cost” said Jonathan Brennan, Partner at Gibbins & Co.

He continued “We grew steadily in the 90s and have continued to grow steadily in the last few years. We were managing our solicitor clients and the physical cases they were sending to us in spreadsheets, using Excel. The data load on the business, having to control the solicitors, their fee earners, the location of the cases and our fee earners commissions for work was cumbersome, slow, inaccurate and occasionally cased a case file to be misplaced for a few hours. We needed to do something to improve our business information management and Target Information Systems has delivered an elegant, functional and now business critical system to us.”

Phil Atkinson, Managing Director said “I’ve been talking to companies about information management now for over fifteen years. Jonathan’s business was no different from many companies I’d visited in the past.” He continued: “Gibbins were controlling lots of data in the only method that had at their finger tips, spreadsheets. Target replace manual and legacy information management with modern, smart, permission controlled Intranet applications and create data management systems.”

"The team at Target have helped us to transform our entire business culture. Whereas we were previously relying on disparate and outmoded systems, all of our business information is now centralised and easily accessible thanks to the effective solutions provided by Target. Working with Target has been the most successful IT project we have ever undertaken."

Jonathan BrennanManaging Director

Target are using Open Source components and Java programming technology to deliver information tools to a range of businesses. Using Open Source programming means a low cost of ownership and the flexibility of Java development means companies receive exactly the functionality that they need to run their business more efficiently.

“At Target we are able to rapidly understand our clients’ needs and translate that to an Intranet application from which they can start gaining an immediate commercial advantage.” said Daryl Greensill, Technical Director.

Gibbins described the system as being “the most successful IT project they have ever undertaken” and Target as “a delight to work with, professional, friendly, innovative and passionate about what they do.”

In December 2010 we ordered the Mercury Legal case management system and went live in January 2011. The system is managing our cases, producing invoices for clients and monitoring our activities.

I’ve been delighted with the professional, friendly and talented team at Target. I’d have no hesitation in recommending any company modernising the way you manage you important business data and information.

We’ve evolved through paper to spreadsheets to shared drives and now to an Intranet application that’s delivering exactly what we needed."
